The Ministry of Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Innovation and Labour is proud to support the local pearl industry, and would like to thank everyone that took part in and entered the 2016 Tonga Mabé Pearl Handicraft & Jewellery Competition. And to warmly congratulate all the talented winners.

A Special Achievement Award was presented to Mosese Havea of Big Mama’s Blue Lagoon Pearls, Tongatapu.

On a sad note, Leonati Fakatava, a master carver from Vava’u passed away in August 2016. Tonga has lost a great man, a skillful artist and a true gentleman, however his art will live on.
