Consumer Affairs Division

This division started in January 2014 directly linked to the improvement of the quality of life for Tongan citizens and upholding of consumers rights and welfare. We are increasing public awareness of consumer rights through improved regulatory enforcement including :

  • The development of a strategy to improve the protection of consumer rights and welfare including the establishment of a Consumer Council as provided under the Consumer Protection Act 2000.
  • The development of a conducive regulatory framework for consumer protection, and the development of consumer awareness and education programs.
